I'm trying to understand why something happens so I will be able to explain it to my boss...
When I try to install SQL Server 2008 R2 on my Windows Server 2012 R2 machine I encounter with the following problem:
"Competability issue"
and this is the warning that I see in the eventvwr:
"The application (Microsoft SQL Server (2008 or 2008 R2), from vendor Microsoft) has the following problem:After SQl Server setup completes you will need to install Service Pack before running SQL Server on this version of
Windows.
for SQL Server 2008, you will need to install service pack 3 (SP3) or later
for SQL Server 2008 R2, you will need to install service pack 1 (SP1) or later"
I need to know why SQL Server 2008 R2 RTM doesn't work on Windows Server 2012 R2 any more?
I know that it is not recommended to install 2008 R2 on 2012 R2 servers, and I know that SP and CU are importent but I need to answere on that particular issue...
